Cosmetic Dentist Emeritus

After 42 years, Mickey Bernstein, DDS retired from practicing cosmetic dentistry at Germantown Dental Group. Prior to his retirement, Dr. Bernstein worked alongside Drs. Whittemore and Gruen for over 20 years. He maintains a personal philosophy that people deserve to look their best and have a positive self-image.


Career & Impact

At Germantown Dental Group, Dr. Bernstein was devoted to providing the most technologically advanced and beautiful cosmetic dental designs and restorations available. Dr. Bernstein has a special interest in helping people with worn and eroded teeth, including those dealing with eating disorders like bulimia.

He’s also a volunteer helping restore the smiles of survivors of domestic abuse through the Give Back a Smile Program. Dr. Bernstein and his wife, Diane, have seven children and twelve grandchildren.


Dr. Bernstein is a graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry and an Alumnus of the L.D. Pankey Institute of Advanced Dental Education.

Dr. Bernstein teaches the cosmetic dentists of tomorrow as a member of the Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Esthetic Dentistry at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry.

He’s certified to perform sedation dentistry and has advanced training in treating:

  • DURAthin® Prepless Veneers.


Dr. Bernstein is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, the Fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He lectures nationally on cosmetic design, branding strategy, and practice development.

Dr. Bernstein has been awarded Accredited Member status in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and served as its President for 2008 – 2009. He shares this honor with only a few other dentists in Tennessee and a few hundred worldwide.

Dr. Bernstein is the recipient of the Fellowship Award from the Tennessee Dental Association for 2010 and has been named a “Top Dentist” in Memphis Magazine.

He lectures to dental groups nationally on cosmetic design and understanding patients’ needs. Dr. Bernstein’s memberships include:
